LFS
Services
AFTER
CARE PROGRAM
After
Care is available from 3:00-6:00 p.m. for students in Kindergarten
through Grade Eight and operates when school in session on full days
only. If there is a noon dismissal or early school closing, After
Care will not be open. There is a $30 registration fee and a charge
of $10 per day (billed in advance) regardless of the amount of time
spent in attendance.
COUNSELING
Counseling
service is available at Little Flower School. This service utilizes
a short-term, goal oriented model of counseling best suited to remediate
school related problems or difficulties which are developmental or
situational in nature.
FOOD
Students
bring their own lunch and have the option to enroll in the school
milk program. Once a week volunteer parents of the Hot Lunch Committee
host a hot lunch for the children. Participation in the Hot Lunch
Program is optional.
HEALTH
Vision
and Hearing Screenings are provided annually by the Health Department
of Montgomery County for all new students, for students referred by
their teachers and for those in designated grades.
Children who become ill during the school day are taken to the School
Clinic until a parent can come for them. Our school does not have
the services of a full-time nurse.
TRANSPORTATION
A
small percentage of our students walk to and from school. Some ride
their bicycles but for safety reasons only students in Grades 5-8
are allowed this means of transportation.
The majority of our children are driven to school by their parents,
who sometimes arrange for carpooling with other families that live
in their neighborhood.
On the
occasions throughout the school year when classes go on special field
trips, the school rents buses for the transportation of the students.
Only on very rare occasions are children transported for school events
by private car.
